»»Overall Appearance:
Senne is an incredibly feminine person. He was born male, but even when he chooses to enact that gender, he has the same full lips, the bright blue eyes, and the slender body features that are usually associated with femininity. Over the years, he has done a lot to further his androgyny - he has both of his ears pierced and wears earrings at all times, and has grown out his silky blue hair to a somewhat longer length. He also keeps his eyebrows trim and shaves off most of his body hair. Sometimes it's hard to determine, at first glance, whether Senne is a man or a woman.
As the whole world knows, however, Senne's female presentation, Sharon Bloom, is obviously female. Senne wears long wigs in a paler shade of blue as Sharon, and is very much a fan of the Gothic Lolita style. Sharon wears many dark frills, lacy black petticoats, dark hair accessories, and very heavy makeup that makes her blue eyes pop. She also wears more elaborate jewelry than Senne - whereas Senne's earrings are usually studs or small hoops, Sharon wears large roses, heavy black feathers, silver ear cuffs, or other ostentatious earrings. Sharon, overall, is a bigger fan of heavy jewelry and makeup than Senne is.
Because Senne presents himself publicly as a female coordinator named Sharon, he tends to think of Sharon as separate from Senne. Senne will never wear clothes Sharon wears, and, on the flipside, Sharon never wears anything Senne does. Senne, consequently, has two entirely separate wardrobes.

Unlike with his very different stylistic choices when Coordinating as Sharon, Senne doesn't change much of his personality when he's cross-dressing. The most noticeable difference between the two of them, personality-wise, is that Sharon is a bit more serene than Senne. In any case, Senne's defining personality trait is his complete and total innocence. Senne is a very child-like person, and definitely treats each day as a new day for fun, learning, and opportunities. His innocence is almost a protective bubble around him - because his world revolves around fantasy, Coordinating, and all of the shiny, glittery things in life, it never occurs to him that there are shadowy people and that not everyone around him is going to want to make friends. He should know better - his mother pretty much rejected him in his early teen years - but his naivete always gets the better of him.
Senne is an overall cheerful person, ready to brighten up the day of anyone who's feeling down. His whole reasoning for becoming a Coordinator was because of his neighbor Mizuno-san, whose own Coordinating motto was "Make the crowd's day". That's pretty much Senne's motto as well. If he doesn't make a fan happy with his Contest presentation, he feels he's failed in his work. He wants the audience to be as cheerful as he is on most days.
Senne does have a competitive streak as well. Contests are his life, and his goal of going to the Grand Cup is one of his driving forces in life. While he still remains cheerful in forming rivalries, he will definitely let you know that he considers you a force to be reckoned with. He thinks it's a compliment, but it does come off as somewhat arrogant. Occasionally, Senne's obliviousness makes it hard for him to see that he's said arrogant or mildly offensive things, honestly. He has a mild reputation around the Coordinating realm as being somewhat snooty because of his misguided arrogance. Some people think it goes well with Sharon's image, but he's accidentally lost a few friends because of it.
Speaking of Senne being oblivious, another one of his more innocent traits is that, beyond keeping it a secret that he is Sharon Bloom, Bosena's most elegant coordinator, he is virtually incapable of lying. Everything you get from Senne will be the truth and nothing but the truth. Unfortunately, he oftentimes comes off as blunt because of this - if he disagrees with someone's methods of training, per se, he'll let it be known in the most obvious fashion possible. Again, the arrogance label gets thrown at him because of this, too.
Senne keeps most of his things meticulously organized. He's definitely touchy about his things, mostly because he has two completely separate wardrobes that are sorted so that he can go about his day however he so chooses. His biggest pet peeve is anyone touching any of his clothing, particularly his wigs. His clothes garner as much care as his Pokemon, in all honesty. That's a lot of care for some inanimate objects.
When it comes to being an entertainer, Senne is a natural one. When dressed as Sharon, he is perfect in almost every way - his appearance energizes the crowd and he radiates energy. In his daily life, he has a magnetism that draws people towards him, even when he isn't doing anything to garner attention. He has charisma up the wazoo, and utilizes it to his advantage, especially in the Contest circuit.

»»History:
Iolite City is the perfect place to make big life changes with little or no thought. It's bright, colorful, and there seems to be alcohol served in every public building - even the Pokemon Center has a bar in it. So it didn't shock the family of Junko Ano that she managed to get married to a man she'd met maybe two months before, map-maker Koji Benou, while the two of them vacationed there. What did shock them was that Junko and Koji were determined to make the marriage work, and that the two of them quickly placed work transfers to Iolite City and tried to make their hasty marriage work.
For a long time, the marriage was working. The two of them gave birth to their first-born child, a girl named Lena, two years before Junko gave birth to their second and last child, Senna. The four of them formed a rather hardscrabble family - since Koji was gone exploring much of the time, making his maps of the various regions, Junko basically raised the two children on her own, quitting her job as a nurse at the Pokemon Center in order to do so. Lena and Senna were both fairly active, vivacious children who spent a lot of their free time exploring Iolite City, when they were old enough.
As the two children reached double-digit age, they began to drift apart from each other, interest-wise. Lena spent a lot of time in the Iolite Gym, hoping to become an apprentice of the Electric-type training Gym Leader. Lena was 12 when she first got into the gym and hoped to apply herself as a Gym Trainer; Senne, who was only ten, found the whole thing incredibly pointless, though he appreciated how his sister was dedicated to raising her Plusle to be a powerhouse. After a few trips to the Gym, Senne decided to strike out on his own, eventually ending up at his neighbor Genji's house. Genji used to babysit him and his sister when his mother was a nurse, and Senne got along very well with him, going so far as to call him Uncle Genji. Genji began to show him some of his coordinating tapes from when he was a famous Coordinator who won the Ribbon Cup in Hoenn, and Senne was entranced.
While Senne was having fun getting better acquainted with the neighbors, he was busy coming to a realization of his own. When Senne was about twelve, he sneaked into his sister's room and tried on one of the frilly dresses she never wore. Senne, after looking the mirror, was convinced he looked better in it than she did, so he paraded around the house in it. It was one of the rare times both his mother and father were in the house, and the two of them had vastly different reactions - Koji thought it was cute and harmless. Junko thought it was horrifying.
The next few years were hellish in the Benou household. Lena moved into the house designated for trainers at the Iolite Gym, making it only Senne, Koji, and Junko in the house. Koji retired in order to stay closer to Senne, since Junko was going overboard in trying to make her son more masculine. She sent him to the Ranger school, something he abhorred. Genji and Koji pulled him out of it only a few months into his tenure. Genji offered to teach Senne about coordinating, something that only placated Junko for a short time...
Genji trained Senne in the fine art of coordinating for nearly a year, giving him tips on how to make his Pokemon beautiful and appealing, teaching the boy how to make PokeBlocks, to dress his Pokemon with accessories, and to style himself to look appealing as well. Senne, just days before his big debut at the Iolite Contest Hall, went to Genji and said that he'd bought a few things to make himself look good. Those few things were a frilly Gothic Lolita dress, a wig a shade paler than his natural hair color, and suddenly pierced ears. Genji knew that Junko was going to absolutely hate this, but he went ahead and helped Senne turn himself into Sharon for the first time, at age 13.
As expected, Senne's contest debut went terribly. He actually placed second in a Pokemon Beauty contest, but his mother was infuriated. She delivered an ultimatum to Senne - or tried to, anyways. Koji forbid her from kicking Senne out of the house. Junko was so furious that she kicked herself out of the house. From that moment on, it was just Koji and Senne living in the house together, with help from Genji next door.
Senne felt slightly betrayed by his mother leaving, but Koji explained to him in the intervening years that his mother had been thinking of leaving for a long time, first after Lena joined the Iolite Gym. Koji impressed upon Senne that he didn't care what Senne did, because Senne was his son, and he wanted to take care of him. The two ended up becoming very close. Koji went out of retirement to make custom maps for well-paying customers, something that, along with Senne's boring job at the Iolite Bike Shop, went towards paying for Contest fees, dresses, costumes, wigs, PokeBlocks, anything that might be necessary. Since then, the two of them have also been traveling all over the various regions of the world, from Kanto to Johto to Hoenn, to build up Sharon's reputation. No one ever says a word about the fact that Sharon is, in fact, a boy; Senne's Coordinator pass doesn't even have his name on it. He is legally Sharon Bloom, as far as the Coordinators are concerned.
As of today, Sharon has built a good following, and has won two ribbons, both obtained in Hoenn. Senne still lives in Iolite City, but has long since quit the bike job. The official explanation is that his father is making a lot of money; the real explanation is that he's making a good living from Contests. Part of him is thinking of moving out on his own, so that his father doesn't have to keep being bound to his lies, but, despite his innocence, Senne worries about people like his mother who would want to hurt him...
