The worst time of all if you asked a certain Team Pergure Captain. It was time to put on a show, a valiant display of all the good that the Team did. It really disgusted Marcos. He wasn't the sort to lie through his teeth. The goals of the organization were far from the little community service act they put on, and he hated having to take part in these facades. But, being of a higher rank, it was generally seen that he put in a lot of 'face time' with the public, let them see and trust him. Mostly it was his dad's idea, and while his father was his idol, this was one thing he didn't agree on. Hell, technically the young man may have been a crook, but at least he was honest. This time in the Pergure Play Book seemed to be a mucky bit of ocean. The water was low and some rocks had blocked in a nasty, and large, pool of water on the normally white sands. Having been left to stagnate, it has quickly turned from a clear bit of water to a gunky, stinking mess. It was the job of him and his team to clean up this mess today. It was quickly seen that there was a large problem. As soon as one of those hoses was placed in the water to suck it away, a cry was heard, followed by a large glob of purple goo being flung at said hose. The item was destroyed, eaten away by the goo. Acid. Well then. Seemed that Grimer had started to breed in this pool. Then the objective had changed. While the pool still needed to be cleaned, the remaining hoses also needed to be defended, and these Grimer couldn't be left on the loose. This was something he was more capable at. Battling was more his speed. He placed his hands on his belt, clipping the two Pokeballs located there. "Men! He barked, "I want half of you sucking up that ooze and the other half taking out those Grimer! Let none of them escape! Catch them all for use later!" The various members gave their yells and moved to their stations, the stronger of the members opting for battle while the weaker positioned the hoses. Machines were flipped on, and more angry cries were heard as the goop was sucked away. Flashes of light. Many Pokemon emerged from balls, ready for battle. Of all these Pokemon, so were the Captain's pokemon. A Buneary and a Female Nidoran. Some might be surprised that the stern man had such 'cute' Pokemon, but it would be wise not to mention it in the man's presence. The Buneary glanced around, then hopped back, ooze landing at it's feet. A shot hit the Nidoran directly, knocking the small Pokemon over, but she was otherwise unphased. It was a good thing of her type, or it might have hurt her. WILD GRIMER AND GRIMER WOULD LIKE TO BATTLE! Experience Gaining Starts Here As the two Pokemon slithered into view, Marcos knew that this would be a rough one. While he was pretty good with strategy and warfare, these Pokemon were fresh- Greta and Alice had no experience with battling! Still, loyal to fault, the two lined up across from the living slime, instinct guiding them with the first basic steps for a fight. There was that moment of tense silence where nothing moved. The sounds around them said that battle had already started for a few of the other members, but that was them. All that mattered right now was the two wild Pokemon in front of him and his decisions. "Greta, Ice Punch the one on the left! Alice, dash in and Scratch it with your claws! Make sure to back away and out of dodge as soon as possible!" There was a moment’s hesitation. Then it had officially begun. Alice was the first to move. She let out a little cry and reared back, then lurched forward with all the speed she could muster. The tiny claws on her front paws flickered and sheened, hardening for the moments strike. She rushed the ordered Grimer, the slimy pokemon reached a dripping arm forward, intending to grab the Nidoran, but she darted to the side, narrowly avoiding it, and raised her paw, slicing it down the other Pokemon's side. Before she had a chance to duck away, she was slapped sharply with a Pound by the other second Grimer. "Nido!" She yelped and pulled back, dripping with some of the leftover, stinking ooze. "Bun!" Just as Alice was pulling back, Greta was coming in. The bunny Pokemon's right paw was filled with icy energy, a light blue glow surrounding it. She charged forward, arm back and fist made, ready to strike the Grimer. "Bunnoo!" She went in. As before, the Grimer's reached for her, but instead of dodging as Alice did, she slammed her fist down on the Left's outstretched arm. "GRIMER GRIME!" It's arm turned a brackish purple and it jerked back. The goop didn't slide down and drip as it had before; it seems this arm had frozen solid. This information intrigued Marcos. This would be how they beat their attackers. Sadly, a small hole had already formed in this plan. When Greta pulled back, the fur on her paw was purple and soaked. She shivered and shuttered, waving her little arm and trying to shake off whatever it was. It seems the poor dear had been poisoned. The one Grimer flailed it's frozen arm, trying to figure out how to remedy it's situation. It groaned and moaned, just as much angry as it was in pain. With it's other arm, it scooped up a large bit of sand and flung it, it's sticky hands making the sand stick together just enough for it to hit as a solid object. A Mud-Slap, the grit and grime smacking Greta's face directly, filling her red eye with irritating sand. "Bunno!" In a failed attempt, she tried to wipe them out. "Hm..... Greta, try for another Ice Punch on the same Grimer. Alice, guide Greta the best you can. They won't harm you as much." Alice chattered and leaned against the Bunny Pokemon, who had her fist pulled back and ice charging again. The progress was slower and they staggered, but it was progress. When they were close enough, Alice courageously lept forward and took another Pound from the right Grimer. Greta lurched forward and swung, while it wasn't spot on, she still grazed the Left Grimer, which froze a few patches on it's chest, but not as much as before. It cried loudly again in pain and anger. Forming a fist with it's free arm, it slammed it down in a Pound, smacking Greta on the head. She wailed in surprise from the hit, clumsily backing away. Alice Growled at their opponents then rushed for Greta and nudged her away from the pair. "Bu-uuuuun! Bun-noooooo!" She wailed in pain, the poison as well as the sand wearing her thin. A few small tears leaked from her eyes, which helped clear the grit away some. Sniffling, when she opened her watery eyes, Greta didn't wait for Marcos's orders. She reared back her paw and charged, then struck the Left Grimer in the head. It struck at her in it's final moment, but missed. It's head froze, which traveled down it's body and made it freeze into a solid mass. Marcos was shocked by his Buneary's actions, but pleased it seemed to have hit such a Critical spot and rendered it powerless. It made an idea form in his mind of the other Grimer. It also struck out at Greta, but she hopped away, so it hit her right foot. "Come back!" Alice was already present closer to him, and Greta quickly hobbled to his feet. "We're being more tactical with this." He said sternly. With choppy motions of his hand, he quickly explained the idea that had formed in his head. "The one we took out already seems to have been the strongest, but Alice, you can't do much harm to it. Ice Punch seems to be very effective, but Greta is weak and I want this ended quickly. Alice, move in and distract it. Don't attack, just distract. Greta, when it's not paying attention, move in and hit it in the head with an Ice Punch. That should end this." Nodding, he pointed, and Alice charged the other Pokemon loyalty. She hung close to the Grimer, making sure it slapped it's arms down at her. She would dodge and hop out of the way when she could until she had it turned almost all the way around. Greta Hobbled for it slowly, her hurt foot and condition slowing her down. She was poised for her last Ice Punch, an attack that would hopefully end this. In a last ditch effort, she attempted to slam her fist down. She landed the attack, luckily, but not as well as hoped. It froze the creatures body, but not it's head or arms. Enraged, it swung at Greta, knocking her out. Experiance Gaining Ended: 1027 Words / 10 = 102.7/103 At this, Marcos ran every possiability through his head. It was weak, but with the limited damage Alice could do, it could very well have her knocked out soon with it's sheer strength and a few well-placed attacks. This was worrysome, for more than one reason. His Pokemon would be hurt was one, but also that if he was seen as weak in front of his charges, they might respect him less. An idea formed in his mind. These Grimer were going to be captured and put to Pergure use anyway, right? Reaching into his jacket pocket, he pulled out one plain red Pokeball. "Alice, back!" The ball was flung as she hopped back. It struck the Grimer, quickly forming the thing into energy and sucking it inside. The middle shone red. Calling his Pokemon back, he motioned and the frozen one was carted up and taken away. The dirty water was almost clean, and it seemed other battles were ending. Now all he had to do was wait and see if he captured or not. [/style] |
